Graphite and oil on card height 71 cm x Width 402 cm. <span class=\"BxUVEf ILfuVd\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"hgKElc\"><b>\u00a3<\/b><\/span><\/span>3800<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This huge drawing &#8230;. and huge is the only response I coud have, the only direction I could possibly take when creating artwork about the interior of <span data-huuid=\"15393539600823067060\"><strong>\u00cdsland<\/strong><\/span>. There are no shops here&#8230;no convenience stores, no petrol stations, no buses, trains, taxi&#8217;s no comfy hotels, if you are daft enough to drive here you will need a proper 4&#215;4 and you had better get yourself a good one, this is where cycling comes into it&#8217;s own far far superior to any car. In cycle touring to\u00a0 Askja we had to crossed 14 proper rivers, one in particular was very memorable &#8230;.. we both have 100% waterproof pannier bags two at the front, two at the back and being waterproof they acted like flotation bags &#8230;. at one point we were up to our waists in the river with the current trying to take our bikes from us because the pannier bags were almost allowing our bikes to float &#8230;.. this is proper expedition cycle touring and we took with us on each crossing 10 days worth of food so that we could take some time to explore this beautiful, sublime place. My son and I crossed Island twice during our 3 month cycle tour, and cycling through the centre was the most extraordinary cycle touring experience of my life. <span class=\"x193iq5w xeuugli x13faqbe x1vvkbs x1xmvt09 x1lliihq x1s928wv xhkezso x1gmr53x x1cpjm7i x1fgarty x1943h6x xudqn12 x3x7a5m x6prxxf xvq8zen xo1l8bm xzsf02u x1yc453h\" dir=\"auto\">One thing we did not need to carry water. The water in almost all of \u00cdsland&#8217;s rivers is pure and safe to drink.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>So few of us have the opportunity to experience this kind of isolation, in places the tracks &#8230;.. there are no roads &#8230;&#8230; almost completely disapear &#8230;. merging into the vast ash fields and lava plains.
